A comparison of emissions from trains, cars and planes
Does it necessarily have to be abroad with the plane for this year's vacation? When was the last time I went on vacation by bus or train?
More and more of us are asking these questions. Especially in times of a global pandemic. But also beyond the corona pandemic: we all have to take responsibility for our actions in the face of the climate crisis. This also includes responsibility for our personal CO2-emissions from travel activities.
Many travel destinations can be easily reached by bus or train. A train journey with Deutsche Bahn AG with around 30-40 g CO2-Equivalents (CO2e) per person-kilometer is the most climate-friendly.
By way of comparison: on average, a flight causes around ten times as much emissions, and a car produces around five times as much CO2e per person-kilometer. You can find more information on this here.
